WHO ARE WE?
OUR OWNER AND FOUNDER
Sandra Shuff is a trained Artesian Distiller and Certified Aromatherapist. As Positively Aromatic she distills 48 different botanicals including those provided by her certified organic forest along with both floral and herbal cultivars grown on her farm. Hydrosol is distilled as a primary product in her distillery on Copper Alembic Stills. This low temperature, slow process allows the larger molecules to release and come through the distillation process to produce a high-quality Artisan Hydrosol and Essential Oil. As owner and operator of a 40-acre USDA Certified Organic farm and forest she has a unique opportunity to grow, harvest and distill multiple aromatics in one location. Her farm Evening Light Lavender Farm grows approximately 24,000 Lavender in 44 varieties, a field of Rose Geranium, various aromatic florals and herbs for distillation.
She is a Regional Director for the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapists (NAHA) and a Regional Director for the United States Lavender Growers Association (USLGA) while on the Executive Board of the Washington Lavender Association (WLA). As an educator she is a speaker at USLGA National Conferences, Glen Dow Academy – Esthetician classes on Aromatherapy, Curriculum collaborator regarding lavender for the University of Wisconsin. She also holds workshops on distillation, the business of lavender, agritourism, Essential Oil Safety and Hydrosols. She is regularly invited to speak at various garden clubs, universities, schools and other groups. She hosts college internships during the summers. Additionally, she has served on Medical teams to Guatemala, Haiti, South Africa, Morocco and Mozambique since 2005.
OUR TEAM
Douglas Shuff is an integral member of the Positively Aromatic team. He has supported Sandra in her vision from the beginning. He has his own business for print, promotions and marketing but still is very involved in the farm and distillation. He has installed and managed all the irrigation systems. Constant projects for construction and improvements are also his responsibility.
Joshua is also a distiller at Positively Aromatic. He has worked side-by-side with Sandra for the past two years and understands the purpose, goals and standards that we have set for the highest quality Hydrosols and Essential Oils. His spirit and positive attitude along with his humor make for a great atmosphere in the distillery. His laugh is contagious and brings laughter to us all.
Brenda is our main “go-to” for marketing materials, operational organization and administrative duties. She is especially an expert in printing & sourcing supplies and materials.
Kristina manages our social media throughout the year and oversees our annual Lavender Festival. She also teaches classes on social media techniques and marketing.
Harvest teams are primarily made up of our grandchildren and various high school and college students.

Our Philosophy
Organic Distillation
It all begins with our 100% certified organic, ethical and sustainable farming practices. All our botanicals are distilled fresh to capture all the “life” they have to offer. Our partner farms must meet the same requirements that we have established for ourselves. We distill on Copper Alembic Stills for the benefits they provide for our beautiful hydrosols and essential oils. Our strict sterilization practices mean you receive uncontaminated hydrosols. We keep all our hydrosols and essential oils in our walk-in cooler without headspace in our containers for optimum freshness. We distill and/or pour your order when it is time to ship.
Quality Products
Our products are beautiful for therapeutics, energy work and perfumery. Positively Aromatic is 100% certified organic. Hydrosols are our specialty, but our limited essential oils are extra special. Our essential oils are also “complete” due to longer slower distillations, pure, unadulterated and certified organic. We give them time to release even the large molecules that need the extra time to release. We also set the atmosphere and music in our distillery for energy enhancement. Those that use our hydrosols for energy work purposes experience the focus and attention we give to our distillation.
