Yarrow grows wild and is native to Asia, Europe, and North America in temperate regions. Most people consider it a weed but its medicinal value cannot be denied due to its tremendous ability to stop bleeding of wounds. As a result, it has been called “nosebleed plant” and “soldiers woundwort” among other common names. It has been used in foods and teas and was very popular as a vegetable in the 17^th century according to Wikipedia. In the middle ages, it was used in liquors and bitters.
